YOGA ALLIANCE 500-HOURS 2018
500-hour Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher Training In Ibiza, Spain
The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training on Ibiza will run from Saturday the 16 March to Saturday 13 April 2019. It will be held at Can Luminosa, a stunning new retreat venue in San Lorenzo. Lara Baumann, founder of Quantum Yoga, will be running the course, co-taught by experienced 500-hr Quantum Yoga teacher Sally-Anne Reynolds. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialized subjects from Samkya philosophy, sadhu culture, Tantra and basic Sanskrit, as well as other guest speakers. Quantum Yoga teacher Nadine Bader will be assisting the training,
The Teacher Training is suitable for those who have completed a 200-hour training and would now like to develop their teaching skills further, deepen and intensify their understanding of the knowledge gained previously, and gain additional insight into the spiritual science of yoga.
The 500-hour program will run alongside the 200-hour Intensive Teacher Training, and as such you will act in the role of mature student, able to support and advise the less experienced trainees. You will therefore be working very closely with Lara, Sally-Anne and Roanna, thus acquiring the practical, pedagogic and psychological skills to guide students through stressful and pressurized situations.
The content of the course will be a further development and deepening of your understanding of the history, philosophy and application of yoga. In order to substantiate your knowledge of Quantum Yoga, you will be expected to further explore the teachings of Ayurveda and the significance of Quantum physics in the framework of asana-vinyasa, pranayama and meditation practice. There will be a chance to recap the subjects covered in the previous courses (see 200-hour TT content), and thus expand your knowledge on these from a solid foundation. You will be expected to develop from simply taking in information to now displaying the skill of clearly and succinctly imparting it to others, as well as relating it back to and integrating it into the realm of asana teaching. Thus part of the 500-hour course work will include a lecture prepared by you on a chosen subject. This may then also form your subject for a written thesis of 5000 words. You will be expected to have prepared an outline proposal for your final paper, which will be written after completion of the course (final submission date is 13th May 2019).
The assessment on the 500-hour course will consist of a written preparatory outline with handouts, to be approved by Lara, followed by the actual teaching of the class. The structure will need to follow the Quantum Yoga Grouping and Sequencing laws. There will have to be an explanation of the Assessment methodology, as informed by Ayurvedic principles. The sequence will have to have a clear theme, a peak pose (if appropriate), as well as the application of linking mechanisms beyond half-vinyasas.
Over and above the 200-hour classes, all of which the 500-hour trainees will attend, there will be an additional Practicum before the main morning asana-vinyasa class, as well our own Q&A session before the lectures in the afternoon. There will be regular meetings with Lara to review the study, practice and events of the course, in order to clarify their relevance and significance, preparing the 500-hour students’ ability to construct and execute their own elaborate yoga programs in the future.
Unlike any other retreat location on the island, Can Luminosa offers comfort of a truly 5-star standard. The feeling is that of space and clarity, whilst in the benevolent and heady embrace of nature. The views from this elevated property are divine, with the lush landscape of Ibiza laid out below and the sparkling blue sea as far as the eye can travel. The interiors also are spacious – the bedrooms are spread out across the property allowing for a genuine feeling of freedom within its thick finca walls. There are plenty of varying common areas, a lovely large pool and gardens, as well as a magical bordering forest to roam around in. The indoor yoga shala is large, light and airy, whilst woodburning stoves, candles and incense can easily transform it into a super cosy space. The outside yoga area makes full use of the stunning views, and is shaded where necessary.
The delicious and healthy food on the course will be largely, although not exclusively, vegetarian, while individual dietary requirements will be taken into account. Our talented chef Wendy is very experienced in catering for groups involved in spiritual practice, and makes sure meals compliment and enhance the yoga experience, whilst leaving the group delighted and fully sated.
