YOGA ALLIANCE 200-HOURS 2018
200-hour Yoga Alliance certified Yoga Teacher Training In Ibiza, Spain
The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training on Ibiza will run from Saturday the 16 March to Saturday 13 April 2019. It will be held at Can Luminosa, a stunning new retreat venue in San Lorenzo towards the north of the island. Lara Baumann, founder of Quantum Yoga, will be running the course, co-taught by 500-hr Quantum Yoga teacher Sally-Anne Reynolds. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialized subjects from Samkya philosophy, sadhu culture, Tantra and basic Sanskrit, as well as other guest speakers. Quantum Yoga teacher Nadine Bader will be assisting the training.
The Teacher Training is suitable for those who want to embark on a career as a yoga teacher, teachers who would like to improve their current skills, as well as yogis who simply would like to deepen their understanding and improve their practice. Trainees often start as students and then decide to dedicate themselves more seriously to the study, investigation and propagation of yoga. Some have had experience elsewhere and have reached a level where they feel ready to consider teaching. Others may have no intention of leaving their current work, but simply want to develop the knowledge and ability to confidently guide others in this rewarding practice.
The Intensive Teacher Training is 200-hour Yoga Alliance accredited (see www.yogaalliance.org for more information). It will cover all aspects of Yoga along with detailed instruction in the Quantum Method and how to teach it. Study of Ayurveda, the Science of Life, will result in an understanding of how this informs not only the emphasis in one’s yoga practice, but also the effects of such life-style choices as food, recreational activities, creams and massage oils, etc. We will explore the roots of the yoga tradition, learning about its history within the socio-cultural context of India from ancient times to the present day, as well as its links to other mystical traditions and its role internationally today. Students will learn about a variety of systems and styles. Using the Quantum Method of Yoga, apprentices will eventually gain the ability to assess what practice is appropriate for themselves and their prospective students and learn how to creatively construct balanced flowing vinyasa yoga sequences. As Quantum advocates vinyasa (breath-synchronised movement) as a primary mode of practice, most asana classes will be of a dynamic nature. Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation practice will also form a daily part of the practice.
There will be a variety of modules covering such themes as Anatomy and Physiology, Adjustments, Therapeutic Yoga, Post and Pre-Natal Yoga, Yoga for Children, Asana names, groupings and sequencing techniques, ancient scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanisads, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Buddhism, Tantra etc. Where applicable out-of-house specialists will run the modules.
Teaching will be both practical and theoretical on a group and individual basis, and there is a requirement for you to spend your own time reading and keeping a yoga diary. We will work to a full and exciting schedule: all teaching and assessment will take place at Can Luminosa and you will then have until 13th May 2019 to submit your 2,500 word essay which will complete your training and qualify you for registration.
Unlike any other retreat location on the island, Can Luminosa offers comfort of a truly 5-star standard. The feeling is that of space and clarity, whilst in the benevolent and heady embrace of nature. The views from this elevated property are divine, with the lush landscape of Ibiza laid out below and the sparkling blue sea beyond as far as the eye can travel. The interiors also are spacious – the bedrooms are spread out across the property allowing for a genuine feeling of freedom within its thick finca walls. There are plenty of varying common areas, a lovely large pool and gardens, as well as a magical bordering forest to roam around in. The indoor yoga shala is large, light and airy, whilst woodburning stoves, candles and incense can easily transform it into a super cosy space. The outside yoga area makes full use of the stunning views, and is shaded where necessary.
The delicious and healthy food on the course will be largely, although not exclusively, vegetarian, while individual dietary requirements will be taken into account. Our talented chef Wendy is very experienced in catering for groups involved in spiritual practice, and makes sure meals compliment and enhance the yoga experience, whilst leaving the group delighted and fully sated. Check her out on Instagram: WendyAnne@LovebitesIbiza.
The cost is €4080, and these course fees include all teaching and assessment, the essential Quantum Yoga book, accommodation, all 3 meals and afternoon tea & snacks (only breakfast on the 3 free Sundays), transfers and of course a celebratory end of training event. Prices are quoted in Euros, but payment can equally be made in US dollars or pounds sterling (xe.com is good for currency conversion).
Large luxury rooms are shared and have their own ensuite bathroom, comfortable beds and for the most part their own outdoor space, either in the form of a balcony, roof terrace, patio or verandah. Those who insist on having their own room, will be charged a €650 single supplement.
If you are interested, please let us know as soon as possible. We will send you an interview form, which will give you both the opportunity to confirm your suitability for and interest in the program. Participants are limited to 12.
Once you have been offered a place we would require 20% payment to hold it; the remainder of the balance will then need to be paid in full six weeks before the start of the course (2nd February 2019) unless otherwise agreed, which would depend on your personal circumstance.
